There’s something about being in Paris that makes my soul sigh with relief. Over the past two years, I’ve grown to love this city, and every time I visit, I hear a faint whisper calling me to move here. I’m enchanted by everything—from the architecture and language to the culture—and even the way every Parisian, young and old, seems to lead a vibrant, full life. The city balances modernity and nostalgia, and every moment spent here feels like time well spent. I visited a friend this past weekend, and though our time together was brief, it was sweet. Keep reading to see what we got up to.
FRIDAY
11:00
I woke up excited to explore my favourite city. That morning felt especially thrilling because I’d just received a new coat I ordered from Noyoco—a brand I discovered through a TikTok comment (honestly, TikTok has replaced Google for me). I had been searching for a classic yet unique tailored coat, made without polyester, prioritizing quality and style. I wanted something that wouldn’t pill or tear after two years of use. I found the Noyoco Gunn coat a week before my trip and asked them to reserve one in-store for me.
I walked to their store and instantly fell in love with the piece’s elevated simplicity. The coat’s classic silhouette is enhanced by a cinched waist and darted details that add a feminine touch and completely change its perspective. At 5’5", I appreciated how it hit my legs at the perfect length—not too long to overwhelm my frame but still dramatic enough to be considered full-length. I wore it all weekend and can confidently say it’s both functional and fashionable. Made from 100% recycled cashmere and wool, it’s incredibly warm, and it looks stunning.
12:00
After securing my coat, I grabbed a London Fog from WHITE Coffee and sipped it as I wandered back to the apartment. Watching people jog along the Seine made me feel like a part of the local rhythm, and I found myself imagining running errands here as a local—another way to manifest my dream of moving to Paris.
15:00
I dropped off my old coat and caught up with my friend after her classes before heading to the Musée de l’Orangerie to see Monet’s water lilies. Seeing them up close was breathtaking, allowing me to appreciate the brushstrokes and color palettes that evoke different emotions in each piece. The museum encourages visitors to walk through in silence, which gave me the opportunity to pause, reflect, and unwind after a hectic week.
19:00
After walking 18k steps and eating only a slice of lemon poppy seed cake, I was starving by the evening. We were lucky to secure a reservation at Ferdi, where I indulged in a juicy, greasy, sauce-filled burger to silence my growling stomach. Naturally, I paired it with a full-fat Coke—because when in Europe, that’s the only option.
22:30
We ended the night at a hotel party, sipping €30 cocktails in an attempt to numb the pain of paying €30 for a cocktail. We called it a night at 1:30 a.m.
SATURDAY
12:00
We kicked off Saturday with the most amazing duck confit at Cave La Bourgogne, where the garlic in the potatoes would’ve made Anthony Bourdain proud. The meal was simple but incredibly delicious—exactly what we needed after a night of too many cocktails and dancing in heels.
14:00
We walked off our meal by strolling around Le Marais, getting lost in the shops that piqued our interest. We visited Revoir Vintage, where I fell in love with their collection of vintage brooches. I couldn’t resist snapping photos of my favourites. The brooches were heavy and rich in detail, showcasing the craftsmanship and quality that excited me. Although I am on a temporary spending ban, I can’t help but remember them fondly.
18:00–22:00
After walking back to the apartment, we decided to forgo our reservation at Chez Janou for a quiet night in. We ordered Thai takeout, listened to Taylor Swift, and talked about everything and nothing. It was a perfect, low-key evening.
SUNDAY
First thing Sunday morning, I had to say “au revoir” to my favourite city. But I love the idea of always leaving something on my to-do list, giving me a reason to come back.
