The arrival of spring meant introducing new wardrobe pieces into my getting-dressed routine. The dressing habits that had provided me with both figurative and literal comfort as I navigated recent life changes were shaken up to accommodate brighter days and rising temperatures. Light jacket season eases the pressure of dressing for function, allowing for more expansive outfit choices. Below are a few outfits I’ve worn recently and how the warmer weather influenced my thought process in putting them together.

I wore this outfit on an airport run, and for this errand, I wanted tried-and-tested pieces I trust to provide comfort while still making me feel like myself—elevated casual. The elevation came from the quality of the pieces, ensuring they were functionally sound while still being fashion-conscious.
My Uniqlo lambswool jumper has seen me through many winters, offering both warmth and reliability. Thanks to its 100% lambswool composition, it’s one of the warmest pieces of knitwear I own. It’s also one of the most affordable options that doesn’t compromise on quality, and I couldn’t recommend it enough. It works brilliantly as a base layer when the coat is the focal point of an outfit, yet it’s lightweight enough to double as a scarf, as seen in this edition of Outfit Reflections.
My jeans are my trusty Citizens of Humanity (COH) Ayla jeans, which I’ve mentioned time and time again. They’ve moulded to me over time and feel like a second skin at this point—jeans that will see me through multiple life stages. The baggy yet flattering silhouette, combined with a light wash that still feels winter-appropriate, makes them a true all-rounder.
Now, for the star of the show. I managed to score The Row Soft Loafers on eBay for over 70% off, making them one of my most incredible second-hand finds. I was over the moon when they arrived in near-perfect condition, and of course, I had to wear them out immediately. They aren’t pictured well, but they filled a crucial gap in my wardrobe. Most of my loafers have a classic boxy toe, but the rounded toe on these brings a softer edge— a small yet effective difference that gives the look a fresh feel.
I finished it off with my Bottega Jodie shoulder bag and was off.

The theme of this outfit was classic pieces with a twist. Essentially, I’m wearing jeans, a jumper, and ballet flats, but the details add that extra something I was craving that day. I was heading to work, which called for a simple outfit, but I still wanted to find ways to inject a bit of excitement.
This was the first time I could wear these jeans without sacrificing the comfort of warm ankles. As the weather started to heat up, I could afford to take a risk with a more cropped style. My Free People barrel-leg jeans are the perfect way to introduce a playful element to a look while sticking to the familiarity of a jeans-and-jumper outfit in the colder months.
Next was my Hades wool jumper, a 100% lambswool piece that delivers both function and personality with its A motif. A graphic jumper is a great way to take a classic piece and make it your own—much like a graphic tee does in warmer months.
I finished the look with navy cashmere socks from Uniqlo and my Margiela Tabis. The Tabis solidified my need for a twist, with their signature split toe offering a fresh take on the ballet flat—just the unexpected detail this outfit needed.

On this day, it was warm enough to forgo a jumper but still cool enough for a coat. To mark my first day sans knit, I decided to play with layering and wore a white T-shirt with my Groes shirt over it. I liked the pop of colour the shirt provided—cohesive with my navy Tibi trousers while also complementing the green of my hat. It pushed me slightly out of my comfort zone, adding an element I wouldn’t normally opt for and continuing to flex my styling muscle.
My Reformation coat worked perfectly to let the shirt stand out, both through the colour contrast and its collarless design. This allowed me to layer the shirt’s collar over the coat, adding a subtle yet elevated detail to the look. I finished it off with my Margiela Tabis and my Paloma Wool Caye bag.

The week I returned from Paris, I had to debut my new Frankie Shop trench immediately. I raved about it in my One Night in Paris post, and it truly is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only can it be buttoned in three different ways to create three distinct collars, but it also comes with a belt to shape the jacket and adjustable drawstrings to cinch the waist if preferred. In terms of value for money, it has delivered a high return on investment—multiple jackets in one—so I think even a finance bro would agree it was a smart purchase.
I paired it with my COH Ayla jeans, opting for a familiar base to debut my cowboy boots. Now, the boots aren’t exactly new—I bought them a few years ago—but for some reason, I never gravitated towards them, and they had been collecting dust in a box in my garage ever since. I decided it was finally time to give them their moment and wore them for a day in the city.
They worked brilliantly to introduce a textural contrast to the outfit, with their suede finish, while the pointed toe helped cut through the jeans. I ended up loving the rough yet sophisticated edge they added to the look—though I could have done without the blisters from breaking them in. The price to pay for keeping them locked away all those years, I suppose.
I felt casual yet cool in this look, and I’ll continue experimenting with these boots to make them feel more instinctive when getting dressed.
Looking back at these outfits, I realise how much of my styling process is about balancing comfort with experimentation—finding familiarity in staple pieces while allowing small details to add something unexpected. Whether it’s revisiting forgotten boots, layering in new ways, or playing with proportions, each look is a reflection of my evolving approach to getting dressed. As the seasons shift, so does my wardrobe, and I’m enjoying the process of refining and reworking what I already own.
I hope you all have a lovely week and speak soon :)

Everything you wear fits you marvelously.
I love all the outfits and the breakdown. I have the Ayla crop but you’re making me want the regular version as I like the slouchy way they hit your shoes.
