There is nothing more sensual than a well-adorned décolletage, and this summer, I felt inspired to make mine more interesting. Jewellery is one of the tools we can reach for when it comes to summer styling — a season where we swap the layering of clothes for the layering of accessories. It allows us to make a statement in a way that feels effortless. With that in mind, I’ve been on a mission to find the perfect statement necklaces.
When I spontaneously flew home to Lagos last week — hence the delayed newsletter — I told myself I couldn’t return to the UK without picking up a few necklaces from the local markets. I wanted to not only support a local business, but also find pieces that felt more unique — ones that would serve as ego strokers whenever they received compliments. I’m happy to report that I found three necklaces that fit the brief perfectly.
A Serious Shade of Blue
I actually gasped when I saw this marbled blue stone beaded necklace. Each stone has its own unique striations, with a stunning royal blue running throughout. Their beauty demands straight-backed attention, and I love the air of seriousness they introduce to an outfit. Against my mostly neutral wardrobe, these beads pop and steal the show, drawing the eye to my neck and inviting curiosity and conversation.

I styled the necklace with an all-black outfit, keeping the canvas blank enough for the necklace to truly shine. The low neckline of my Massimo Dutti top provided the perfect stage for the beads to rest and make their mark, and the top paired effortlessly with my barrel-leg Arket trousers. I added a black-and-white scarf as a layering piece to bring dimension to the look without distracting from the necklace’s power. I finished things off with my Gianvito Rossi thong heels — and I must say, this is my favourite outfit in the newsletter. I’ll be wearing her IRL very soon.
A Deep, Earthy Accent
Next up is this long beaded necklace with a tooth-shaped pendant. What initially drew me in was the colouring — the milky mix of brown and white reminded me of my morning coffee and set it apart from its more predictable white counterparts. I was also taken by the glossiness of the beads, which popped beautifully against my skin and created a lacquered contrast against the matte texture of my clothing.
Its length complements low V-neck pieces — a summer staple — and also cuts through more casual T-shirts and oversized billowy tops with ease.
I styled it with my new Mango dress, easily one of the most flattering things I’ve bought in ages. I love the slightly dropped waistline and how it stays fitted until it begins to flare gently at the hips. I paired it simply with my well-worn Havaianas and added a vintage silk scarf for a little hit of colour and print.
A Playful Pop of Red
Last but not least: this graduated red beaded necklace. I loved how the beads transition from small to large toward the bottom, and the vivid red was everything. The darker striations running through each bead added another layer of depth — it’s those kinds of small details that make me giddy.
These are the playful younger sister to the blue necklace. Where the blue demands reverence, this one invites awe and a sense of play.

Now, I wouldn’t typically have my legs out like this, but I wanted to lean into the fun energy of the necklace and style an outfit slightly outside my comfort zone. These Just Cavalli shorts are usually reserved for beach holidays — the kind where a piña colada is just a few steps away — but when paired with this Frame denim bomber jacket, they suddenly felt like the perfect “drinks on a London summer evening” look. I finished with my Dior sandals to elongate the legs and fully commit to showing skin. After all — it’s summer!
For obvious reasons, I couldn’t link the exact necklaces featured here, but I did a little Etsy dive and found some gorgeous alternatives:

I’m honestly so proud of the intentionality I’ve brought to my summer wardrobe, and being able to document the journey with you all makes it even more special. I'm now on the hunt for the perfect graphic tee — let’s see where that takes me.
